Arts & Crafts Fair Declared ‘The Best Show Ever’

FLAGLER BEACH, Florida (October 19, 2014) — Fridays and Saturdays are generally days of relative calm and serenity at DAV Chapter 86 headquarters. But not so over the weekend of October 18 and 19. The DAV was bustling with commerce, with vendors and buyers alike pursuing the art of bargaining during the Autumn Arts & Crafts Fair.

Hundreds of handcrafted and custom made items by a variety of businesses were on display for purchase in general and special display areas throughout the DAV hall. Fourteen “crafty” vendors rented space to sell their wares, with rental proceeds benefitting the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 86. Accompanying the craft sales were a bake sale of homemade bakery and a silent auction for crafts donated by each vendor and several other donated items. Auction tickets could be purchased at the fair, or were provided to all who donated a can of food towards the DAV food pantry. Prizes were awarded in a drawing at the end of the day on Saturday. On both days, a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and soda were available for sale.

“I’m grateful to all the vendors and donees for their participation in the Arts & Crafts Fair,” commented Sr. Vice Commander and fair organizer Marty Feidler, “and to those who purchased items from our vendors. The combination of purveyors and purchasers, as well as additional donors and those who helped to set up and tear down the site, made the fair a real success.”

According to Dee Morales of A Beachy Place, “I’d really like to do this again in the spring. It could be the kickoff for my new line of clothes. It was a perfect way for me to demonstrate my skills to a new group of potential buyers, to sell a number of my items in a comfortable atmosphere, and to help the local DAV in the process.”
