FLAGLER BEACH, Florida, (June 25, 2014) – For the third year, HSDS Guns of Palm Coast is supporting Jim Booe Chapter 86 of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) via its Fourth of July raffle at Veterans Memorial Park in Flagler Beach. HSDS Guns is a strong proponent for veterans across our country, and demonstrates that support locally in contributions to the Jim Booe Chapter of the DAV.
Home & Self Defense Specialists, known familiarly as HSDS Guns, is run by father/daughter team Steven and Dana Nobile. Both Steven and Dana are driven to work with customers to find the appropriate firearm for their needs and to educate them in the use of those firearms. In addition, they both have a strong desire to give back to the community they’ve enjoyed for the past 30 years. Since opening its doors in November 2011, HSDS Guns has been a valued member of the Flagler/Palm Coast business community, working to and advocating for responsible gun ownership and use.
“Aligning our community service objectives with a deserving local organization was an easy match,” according to Dana. “My dad served 12 years as a consultant to the US Navy and Air Force as a Senior Software Engineer during his 25 years of business experience in the IT industry.” He has a high regard for veterans who served our country and fought for our rights, including the right to bear arms and protect ourselves. The local Disabled American Veterans Chapter 86 was a perfect complement for our business.”
HSDS Guns currently offers a four-hour basic pistol training course taught by Mr. Nobile, a certified NRA instructor. The course teaches the novice or refreshes the experienced firearm user on how to be a safe gun owner and operator. The course satisfies the requirements to apply for a Florida Conceal Carry permit.
DAV Chapter 86 Commander Alfonsa Phillips is pleased with the Chapter’s partnership with HSDS Guns. “I believe the DAV and HSDS Guns has a great relationship, based on mutual respect for our country, the defense of our rights under the Constitution, and our desire to ensure that those who fought for our rights are appreciated.”
Phillips continues, “Jim Booe Chapter 86 of the DAV serves the disabled veterans of Flagler and upper Volusia Counties. The Chapter programs pick up and fill the void left by government agencies. We receive no money or grants from the Federal Government. All of our service programs are sustained by volunteer staff and by contributions from supporters such as HSDS Guns.”
As in prior years, HSDS Guns will host a booth at the Flagler Beach Fourth of July event in Veterans Memorial Park. The event gives HSDS the opportunity to meet their neighbors and answer questions about guns, responsible gun ownership and the business itself. For $3, visitors to the booth can enter a raffle for a Ruger Mini 14 donated by HSDS Guns, to be awarded late in the afternoon. All proceeds from the raffle are given to the local DAV Jim Booe Chapter 86.
“Our veterans are a very important contingent in our Flagler County community,” says Dana Nobile. “We are indebted to them for their service and sacrifice for our country. This is our small way of letting them know of our appreciation and the respect we have for them.”
